The Pentland Centre 2025 Digest
Based at Lancaster University, The Pentland Centre supports their members to instigate and facilitate research that makes businesses more sustainable. Every two years a 'research and impact' brochure which goes into depth about key areas of work is produced.
The brochure is circulated around the University, to visitors, to the general public at events, and will reach
a global audience online.
I was chosen from a selected group of potential illustrators to work with the Pentland Centre on illustrating the cover for their 2025 edition.

The final cover reflects their location in Lancaster, with it's mix of urban, rural and coastal surroundings, as well as referencing their Knowledge & Action Hubs through the following:
• The fells over Morecambe Bay, notably Ulverston and Grange over Sands.
• Transforming Tomorrow podcast hosts Jan and Paul.
• The two main waterways and biodiversity corridors of Lancaster; the River Lune and Lancaster Canal.
• Lancaster Castle as a local landmark.
• Morecambe Bay, particularly the regional blue economy (Heysham Port, local fishing, the wind turbine array in the bay) - linking to the Pentland Centre’s Oceans and Sustainability work.
Also featured is Lancaster University’s Management School building, where the Pentland Centre is based.
I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to collaborate with such a brilliant organisation, especially due to their local proximity and the significant research they undertake regarding sustainability in business.
