This project was created in response to a brief set at University. I chose to create a collection of embroidered patch badges, to mark the lifting of restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, and also celebrate the great outdoors.

The purpose of the map signifies the importance of reconnection with our natural environment, and comments on aspects of the pandemic, with a playful approach.

 To use as a collection for display, or the patches can be attached to clothing and accessories. This could be a commercial product with profit donations given to a variety of charitable organisations.

The map, pattern and patches were first illustrated traditionally with paint pens. After digital enhancement, files were produced on Premier 2+ software, self-taught for this project. The patches were created on the University’s Tajima embroidery machine and attached to the map.
